Responsibilities for business planning
Job Overview:
The Manager of Business Planning will be responsible for overseeing and executing the strategic business planning process within the organization. This includes analyzing market trends, business performance, and operational efficiencies to develop and implement actionable plans that drive company growth. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, financial acumen, and strong project management skills to support the companys long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Analysis:
- Lead the development of business plans, long-term growth strategies, and annual operating plans in collaboration with senior management and department heads.
- Analyze financial data, market trends, competitive landscape, and internal performance metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
- Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and business objectives.
- Create detailed forecasts and business models to predict future outcomes and evaluate new initiatives.
- Performance Management:
- Monitor and track business performance, comparing actual results to budgeted forecasts and strategic goals.
- Identify areas for improvement and propose adjustments to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership, highlighting key metrics, trends, and progress toward strategic goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with finance, operations, sales, and marketing teams to align business planning activities and ensure coordinated efforts across departments.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between different departments to ensure the execution of business strategies.
- Lead or support cross-functional initiatives to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and drive business growth.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting process, ensuring that it aligns with the companys strategic goals and objectives.
- Develop and manage accurate forecasts, ensuring that resource allocation supports business priorities.
- Assist in cost management efforts, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or growth potential.
- Business Development Support:
- Provide strategic support for new business initiatives, partnerships, and market expansion.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, mergers, or acquisitions, and assess their alignment with the companys growth strategy.
- Assist in creating business cases and financial models for new ventures or major projects
- Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to keep business plans relevant and competitive.
- Drive improvements in business planning processes, tools, and templates to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Leadership & Mentorship:
- Manage a small team or coordinate with project managers, providing guidance and mentorship in business planning and strategic thinking.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the business planning team.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in business planning, strategy, finance, or operations, preferably in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in strategic business planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Experience in business performance tracking and reporting.
Qualifications for business planning
- Ability to extract large amounts of data (database mining skills) from Genesys and summarize that data into useful trend information
- Familiar with MS tools and other finance application SAP
- Extremely strong analytical skill set
