Job Description/Skills Required
Responsible for performing highly specialised accounting work required to maintain the general ledger. The Finance Lead directs and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record revenues, expenditures and liabilities of the authorities. The Finance Lead is also responsible for the preparation of annual financial statements and coordination of external annual audit.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the overall activities of the Finance & Accounting functions in the affiliate at an overall and Line of Business level.
- Review the transactional accounting activities performed by the shared services team and in country accountant and approve all entries
- Monitor and manage Capital expenditure within the approved budgets – reports anomalies and ensure projects are capitalized on time
- Report on Operating expenses as compared to budget and forecast
- Monthly balance sheet analysis
- Coordination of monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities
- Production of annual financial statements and ad hoc financial reports
- Provide timely reporting and ensure that it represents a true and fair statement of the operating activities
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are done on time and reviewed by Finance Manager as per agreed timetable
- Comply with all Group, Statutory and Regulatory requirements of the company, such as Financial Statements and Department of Energy Reports.
- Liaise with tax team to ensure Tax reporting is correct including maintenance tax risk register
- Ensure that all requirements are submitted accurately and on time.
- Prepare the annual budget with the accounting and controlling teams and ensure that it is robust, accurate and complete and prepared in time for deadlines.
- Ensure that P&L and Balance Sheet forecasts are prepared accurately and completely
- Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
- Review and maintenance of Internal control systems to ensure they are strong and effective
