Job Role or Description
- To install, upgrade, maintain and customize the z/OS operating system covering z/OS, RACF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, HCD, WLM and other z/OS related IBM and OEM products and features. Candidates must have the essential skills required to perform these activities such as SMP/E, REXX and assembler. They must be able to work independently and to be able to lead and manage associated project work.
- To build new environments as required by the business.
- To proactively monitor z/OS and related software and to take action to prevent potential issues and to maximize performance.
- To improve such monitoring and increase automation where possible.
- To maintain robustness of the configuration and to maintain and test the mainframe DR solution.
- To assist users with the analysis of issues with system processes.
- To deal with day to day support issues related to z/OS and associated software.
- To thoroughly document the environment and all activities performed.
- To work closely with the client, operations and other technicians to create robust plans and processes in line with business requirements.
