On Wednesday, “Taxpayer E-assistance campaign” will be launched to mark 159th “Income Tax Day”. This campaign will be launched across all regional offices of the Income Tax Department.
July 24 is celebrated as the ‘Income Tax Day’ as this tax was first levied as a duty on this day in the year 1860.
The main event will be held in Delhi which will be attended by Sitharaman and minister of state for finance Anurag Thakur.
The campaign was planned by CBDT as various representations were received from taxpayers, shareholders, chartered accountants and banks to assess them in helping and understanding filing returns electronically and discharging other IT related obligations under tax laws.
It will help the taxpayers in e-filing of their returns and make them understand the recent changes in the income tax forms, laws, software utilities of direct taxes.
All officers from the rank of assistant Commissioner and above posted in Delhi have been asked to mandatory attend the event that will start from 10am at Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath Road.
