The Income tax department has tweet while advising taxpayers to check their registered e-mail IDs and E- filing accounts as the E-assessment scheme 2019 has begun.
In the first phase, the Income Tax Department has filtered 58,322 income tax cases for scrutiny for electronic assessment for the year 2018-19 under the National e-Assessment Center (NeAC) and the e-notices have been served before 30th of September 2019 for the cases of Assessment Year 2018-19.
Further, those who have received notices are asked to respond within 15 days.
Under the new system, In case any taxpayers case is selected for scrutiny, he will receive notices on their registered emails as well as on registered accounts e-filling portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
They will also be alerted through SMS on their registered mobile number, specifying the issues for which their cases have been selected for scrutiny.
How to respond to e-notices received under the new scheme?
The response can be submitted by the taxpayers along with required attachments, by uploading and submitting the same on the e-filing portal.
Here are the steps to be followed by the taxpayer:
Step 1: Visit the e-filing Portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. and Login you account by using PAN number and Password.
Step 2: Under e-Proceeding tab, a link e Proceeding is available. Click on the link and you will be redirected to e-Assessment/Proceedings.
Step 3: Click on the link ‘Proceeding Name’ and you will be redirected to a new screen.
Step 4: Here, you can download the communication/intimation in PDF format by clicking the link mentioned under Reference ID.
